For example, an employee works 50 hours during the workweek; 25 hours at $10/hr. and 25 hours at $12/hr. - to determine the employee's gross wages using weighted-average overtime calculations:
- (25 X $10) $250.00 + (25 X $12) $300.00 = $550.00
- $550.00 divided by 50 (total hours worked) = $11.00 weighted-average rate of pay
- $11.00 + ($11 divided by 2) $5.50 = $16.50 weighted-average overtime rate of pay
- (40 X $11.00) $440.00 + (10 X $16.50) $165.00 = $605.00 gross pay
